Pieces of four squares fall into a well ten columns wide. Turn them, slide them, and fill a whole row to make it vanish; leave gaps and the stack creeps up until a new piece has nowhere to appear. Block Stacker is that falling-blocks puzzle, built to feel right on a keyboard and playable with buttons on a phone, with nothing to install.

How to Use Keys and Buttons

  1. Press Start or Enter. Choose a start level from 1 to 10 first if you want it faster from the beginning.
  2. Left and right arrows move the piece; Up or X turns it clockwise, Z anticlockwise. Down drops it one row at a time, and Space drops it straight to the bottom.
  3. C or Shift puts the current piece in the Hold box and brings out the one already there, once per piece. The Next column shows the three pieces coming up, and the outlined ghost shows where the falling piece will land.
  4. On a phone, use the six buttons under the well, or tap the well to turn. P pauses, and switching tabs pauses too.

How the Math Scores Lines and Speed

Clearing one, two, three or four rows at once is worth 100, 300, 500 or 800 points, multiplied by the level, so a four-row clear on level 3 scores 2,400. Each row a piece falls by soft drop adds 1 point and by hard drop 2. Every 10 cleared lines raises the level, and gravity follows the guideline curve (0.8 − 0.007 × (level − 1)) raised to the power (level − 1) seconds per row: a full second at level 1, about 0.36 s at level 5 and 64 ms at level 10.

Edge Cases: Wall Kicks, Lock Delay and the Bag

A turn that would push a piece into a wall or another block is not simply refused: the game tries up to four small nudges first, the standard SRS kicks, so the long bar can still turn flush against the right wall. When a piece touches down it waits 0.5 seconds before locking, and each successful move or turn on the ground restarts that wait, up to 15 times. Pieces come from a shuffled bag of all seven, so you never wait more than twelve pieces for the long bar. The game ends when a new piece cannot appear; your best score is kept in this browser.
