A keyword set for paid search or SEO is rarely typed out phrase by phrase. It is built from parts: a list of intent words, a list of audiences, a list of products, and every sensible combination of the three. This tool does the combining. Paste two or more word lists and it returns every phrase that takes one term from each, in list order, which is the Cartesian product of the lists.

The lists are one block of text, one term per line, with a blank line between lists. Load Sample fills the editor with an e-commerce set of three lists — buy / shop / order / cheap, then mens / womens / kids, then running shoes / trail shoes / trainers — and the 4 × 3 × 3 grid produces 36 phrases, the first of which is buy mens running shoes.

The Controls: Every Field on the Page

  • Join with sets the character between terms: a space (the default, for natural phrases), a hyphen (for slugs or domains), or nothing (for compound words).
  • Match type wraps every phrase for a Google Ads upload: Broad leaves it plain, Phrase puts it in double quotes, Exact puts it in square brackets.
  • Permute list order also generates the phrases you get by reordering the lists themselves, so “running shoes mens buy” appears alongside “buy mens running shoes”. This multiplies the output by the factorial of the list count.
  • lowercase forces every term to lower case before joining. Remove duplicates drops repeats, which matters most once Permute list order is on and two orderings collide.
  • Copy all copies the whole result as newline-separated text, ready to paste into a spreadsheet column or an ads editor.

How Big the Keyword Set Gets

  • The count is the product of the list sizes. Three lists of five terms is 125 phrases; four lists of eight is 4,096.
  • Permute list order multiplies that by the factorial of the list count: three lists become six times as many rows, four lists twenty-four times. The stats line shows the running total so you can see it climb before you commit.
  • Output is capped at 10,000 phrases. Past that the tool shows the first 10,000 and an amber note with the true total, so the browser tab stays responsive.
  • The tool accepts up to 8 lists. A ninth is refused with “This tool handles up to 8 lists; you have 9. Merge a few before combining.”

Tricky Inputs: Blank Lines and Repeated Terms

  • Lists are split on a blank line, not on any line break. Two terms on consecutive lines belong to the same list; leave an empty line between them to make them separate lists.
  • A single list on its own has nothing to combine with. The tool waits and shows “Add a second list. Separate lists with a blank line, one term per line — the tool combines one term from each.”
  • Leading and trailing spaces on each term are trimmed, and fully blank lines inside a list are ignored, so a pasted column with ragged spacing still parses cleanly.
  • A term can contain spaces of its own. trail shoes is one term, and it joins to the others exactly as a single word would.
