Paste a draft and Common Typo Fixer scans it against a bundled map of 500+ frequently misspelled English words, correcting each one in place. The result appears in a diff view: the original misspelling is shown with a terracotta strikethrough, and the corrected word sits beside it in green so you can see every change at a glance before copying the clean text. Toggle to plain view if you only want the corrected output without the markup.

Case is preserved throughout. Recieve becomes Receive,RECIEVE becomes RECEIVE, and recieve becomesreceive — the corrector reads the shape of what you typed, not just the letters. Nothing leaves the browser; the substitution map ships inside the page bundle.

Walkthrough: the Lead Sample

The text that loads on arrival reads “Please remeber to recieve the updated files before the begining of next week. We need to accomodate the client’s request and seperate the invoices by region. It has definately occured to me that we should beleive the report figures and adress the discrepancies before the meeting on Friday.” The diff view marks 8 corrections: remeber → remember, recieve → receive, begining → beginning, accomodate → accommodate, seperate → separate, definately → definitely, occured → occurred, and beleive → believe. The stats row reports 8 corrections across 64 words — a 12.5% correction rate. Press Load Sample again for an academic passage, a casual blog post, or a professional report, each seeded with a different set of misspellings.

What It Accepts and What It Skips

  • Input ceiling is 30,000 characters. Characters beyond that are silently discarded before scanning. The counter below the textarea tracks your position.
  • Whole-word matches only. The corrector uses word boundaries, so there inside therefore is never touched. Partial matches inside compound words or URLs are skipped.
  • Homophone pairs are not disambiguated. The map corrects spelling, not meaning — teh → the is safe, but their/there/they’re context is beyond what a substitution map can judge. Use a grammar checker for those cases.
  • Proper nouns are not filtered. If a name in your text collides with a known typo entry, the word will be corrected. Scan the diff view before copying.
