A habit tracked once a week is a New Year's resolution. A habit tracked every day is a pattern you can actually see, which is why Habit Tracker draws each one as an 84-day grid instead of a single percentage. One glance at the grid shows whether Tuesdays are the problem, not a paragraph explaining it.

Everything lives in this browser's localStorage. There is no account, no sync, and nothing about what you are trying to build sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and the habits clear with it, which is the trade for never asking you to sign up.

Getting Your First Streak Going

  1. Type a name into New habit, pick one of six colour dots, and press Add. Up to 12 habits fit before the button greys out.
  2. Each habit gets its own row with a Today button on the right for a one-click check-in, and the full 84-day grid underneath for going back and filling in a day you forgot.
  3. Clicking any past square toggles it on or off. Clicking it again undoes it — there is no separate delete-entry step.
  4. Three live numbers sit next to the habit's name: a flame for the current streak, a trophy for the longest one ever recorded, and a percentage for how much of the visible 84 days is filled in.

The Method Behind Every Streak

  • The current streak counts consecutive days ending today. If today is not checked yet, it counts back from yesterday instead of dropping to zero at midnight — the streak is only broken by a day that closes with nothing marked, not by a day still in progress.
  • The longest streak is a separate all-time high, computed by walking every recorded date in order and measuring the longest unbroken run of consecutive calendar days. It never shrinks just because the current streak resets.
  • Grid columns are real calendar weeks, Sunday to Saturday, not just seven-day chunks counted back from today — the first column is padded with blank cells so every square lines up under the correct day name the way a wall calendar would.

What Happens When You Skip a Day

  • Nothing punitive. The missed square just stays empty, the current streak resets on the next completed day, and the longest streak you already earned stays on the card untouched.
  • Squares for dates after today are unclickable rather than hidden, so the shape of the grid stays constant and only fills in as the days actually arrive.
  • Deleting a habit named “Drink Water” raises Delete "Drink Water" and all of its history? before it removes anything, and Clear All raises a second, louder confirmation naming every habit at once, since that one has no undo.
  • Habit names are capped at 40 characters, and the twelfth habit is the last one the form will accept — past that, adding a thirteenth is disabled rather than silently dropped.
